After School Care

Burnside OSHC opens for After School Care at 3.20pm at the end of the school day. A staff member signs children in as they line up at the signing in table. When all children have been signed in they wash hands prior to having afternoon tea, formerly known at Burnside OSHC as “Tree Stump”. This term dates back to the 1980′s when afternoon tea was served on a large sawn off gum tree stump. The name “Tree Stump” has remained to this day even though attempts have been made to change it.

After “Tree Stump” the children are free to participate in organised activities or free play. Some options to choose from include:

  • a plethora of daily crafts and art
  • Nintendo Wii or Game Cube
  • full access to the school gym for basketball, indoor soccer or netball
  • outdoor play on the jungle gym, grass oval or sandpit
  • dress ups
  • guided cooking activities
  • homework club
  • much much more…

After School Care then closes at 6pm.
